Manufacturing in Panama hits $1.2 billion for quarter

The manufacturing industry in Panama produced $1.26 billion in the first quarter, a 5.9 percent increase on the same period of last year.
However, employment in the industry was almost at a standstill. By March the actor had 49,300 workers, a year-on-year increase of only 0.65 percent.
Manufacturing is the number two employer in Panama.
