Market gardens of Honduras generate $100 million
Honduras is expecting to boost its vegetable and fruit exports by improving conditions in the Comayagua region, one of the country's leading market-garden areas.
Last year, exports reached more than $100 million, and this year producers expect to generate more sales through projects such as Fhia, a Foundation that will support growers with technology.
Comayagua is 50 kilometers to the northwest of the capital city of Guatemala, and is renown for producing carrots, chiles, aubergines, melons, watermelons and some Asian products such as Thai okra.
