Martinelli approves $13 billion budget for next year, with 23 percent increase

President Ricardo Martinelli of Panama approved the nation’s $13 billion budget for next year.
The new budget represents a 23 percent increase on the current year’s. It predicts economic growth of 6.5 percent and inflation of 3 percent.
Social spending is reckoned to be some $6 billion, or about 46.1 percent of the total.
