Martinelli talks investment with Merkel in Germany

Panamanian president Ricardo Martinelli has expressed interest in attracting German investment and introducing the Euro as legal tender in Panama during his state visit in Europe.

In Germany, Martinelli met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss the possibility of a double taxation treaty to help ease investment toward Panama.

Martinelli also stated he would like to make the Euro legal currency in Panama, a move which could be "unwise" given the current state of the European economy, said Adolfo Quintero, ex-director of the Panamanian College of Economists.
