Mexican economy seen growing at 4.2 percent

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

The Mexican economy likely was resilient in the April-June period, supported by flourishing domestic demand and election-related spending, although it probably slowed from the previous quarter as exports lost some steam due to the challenging global economic climate.

Mexico's gross domestic product is expected to have expanded 4.2 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2012, according to the median estimate in a Dow Jones Newswires survey of 17 economists.

GDP is expected to have expanded 0.8 percent from the first quarter in seasonally adjusted terms, according to five economists' estimates.
