Mexican regulator approves two new TV channels

Thursday, June 7, 2012

Mexico’s broadcast regulator moved to increase competition in television by ordering an auction of two new TV channels in a market dominated by two large networks.

The Federal Commission of Telecommunications said companies could get the nationwide channels through bidding.

A statement did not make clear if the two dominant companies Televisa and TV Azteca could get the public contracts.
