Thursday, April 12, 2012

Mexico is supporting U.S candidate Jim Yong Kim to be the next World Bank president, a top official said.

"We're convinced that Mr. Kim is the best candidate. His expertise in development issues will importantly contribute to strengthen the institution," Deputy Finance Minister Gerardo Rodriguez said. Kim visited Mexico on Tuesday.

Rodriguez added that the Mexican government will vote for him. The World Bank board is expected to decide through consensus on a new president on April 16.
