Mexico president's approval slumps on violence

Friday, August 12, 2016

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto’s approval has plunged in a poll by Reforma newspaper to 23 percent as most people surveyed said they saw the economy worsen and violence rise over the past year.

The drop from 30 percent in April brings Pena Nieto to the lowest level in Reforma opinion polls since the late 1990s administration of Ernesto Zedillo, while the 74 percent rejection is the highest since the newspaper began polling the public in 1995.
