Mexico President signs telecoms reform into law

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto signed into law Monday this week new regulations for the telecommunications and broadcasting industries.
The changes are designed to curb the dominance of billionaire Carlos Slim's América Móvil and boradcasting firm Grupo Televisa.
"The reform will promote greater competition, improved conditions, better coverage and service quality, as well as lower prices and costs," Peña Nieto said at an event in Mexico City with industry and governenment representatives.
