Mexico's leading bank lays off 1,500 staff

Thursday, September 13, 2018

Mexico's leading bank, BBVA Bancomer, has laid off 1,500 of its staff in what experts say could be the first of several cuts in the financial services sector.

BBVA Bancomer is the second biggest Spanish bank in Mexico, and it accounts for four of every 10 dollars earned by the group worldwide.

The dismissals are heavily concentrated in the branch network, the week link of the digitalization of the bank's operations.
