Mining groups in Colombia fear popular backlash

Colombia will face a wave of popular rebellions against mining projects that will drive away foreign investment unless it establishes rules for the industry and prioritises national over local interests, mining companies warn.
Recent court rulings have set alarm bells ringing among foreign investors who worry that community opposition to resources projects will grow, just as the peace deal with Farc guerrillas promises to open up new areas to development.
