More than $11 million in drugs seized in El Salvador

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Salvadoran Attorney General Luis Martínez said authorities are focusing on narco-trafficking organizations with transnational connections to bolster the Central American country’s counter-narcotics fight, which had an impressive 2012.

The main objective is to improve security along the country’s land borders, which are crossed by more than 1,400 trucks daily.

The first steps will be implemented at the Guatemalan border in La Hachadura, and on the Honduran border in El Amatillo, near the Gulf of Fonseca, which is shared by El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.
