More than 40 companies drawn by Guatemala 800-megawatt tender for power generation

More than 40 potential bidders have shown interest in a tender for power generation in Guatemala between 2015 and 2030. The tender is being promoted by the government's National Electricity Commission and the three private-sector distributors.

The tender is for a total of 800 megawatts of generation. Bids are due to be filed January 26.

The companies involved are offering wind-power, natural gas, hydro, biomass and sugar mills, and other non renewable sources. Eleven of the companies are foreign.
