Mystery over resignation of Panama's number two

The government of Panama's number two, Jimmy Papadimitriu, resigned without explanation.

The president, Ricardo Martinelli, named his foreign minister, Roberto Henríquez, to replace Papadimitriu.

Business and political leaders regarded Papadimitriu as the key figure in projects such as the Panama City metro, and as the government's point man for resolving conflicts with dissident groups such as indigenous protesters.
