New proposed rules for El Salvador free zones will limit incentives. Commitment with the World Trade Organization.

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Tax breaks, many of them based on a company’s record as an exporter, will be a thing of the past for the free zones of El Salvador if legislators approve legal reforms that are backed by the Economy Ministry and industrialists.

The aim is to modernize the sector and also fulfill El Salvador’s commitments with the World Trade Organization.

Under the reforms, fiscal incentives will be restricted and subject to levels of investment and the creation of jobs.
