Representatives of El Salvador's private sector said that a new tax reform, expected to be approved this Wednesday, would hit the country's already delicate economy.
The new taxes would affect the population's finances as well as discourage investment.
El Salvador's economy has grown less than 2 percent annually in the past decade.
