Nicaragua aims to break $1 billion record in foreign direct investment in the New Year

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

Nicaragua set a record in foreign direct investment with $900 million this year, said Javier Chamorro, head of the ProNicaragua promotion agency.

"That was about 50 percent more than in 2010," said Chamorro. But the target for 2012 is more than $1 billion, he added.

Mexico, the United States and Venezuela are the leading investors in Nicaragua but now there are new players, such as Spain, Canada and South Korea, he added.
