Nicaragua aims to increase gold and silver sales

Friday, August 16, 2013

Nicaragua expects to produce 1.18 million ounces of gold and 1.43 million ounces of silver from 2012 to 2016.

The country saw income from gold sales reach $1.25 billion between 2006 and 2012, according to government figures.

But the production goals for the future are conservative, says the president of the mining chamber, Sergio Ríos, considering the country has a much higher potential but depends on several factors such as international prices.
