Tuesday, September 9, 2014

The construction of Nicaragua's inter-oceanic canal will begin in December this year, said Telémaco Talavera, member of the canal's state committee.

The project is expected to cost $40 billion, and will include two sea ports, an airport, an artificial lake, two sets of locks, a tourism complex, a free trade zone and highways, according to Hong Kong-based HKND Group, the firm in charge of the project.

The canal will create some 50,000 direct jobs and 200,000 indirect jobs, Talavera added.
