Nicaragua comes tops in the region for innovation

Most Central American countries have a low level of innovation, compared to other countries with similar gross domestic product levels, according to the 2012 Global Innovation Index, by the World Intellectual Property Organisation.

For many, the success of Nicaragua was the great surprise in the list, as it climbed up the index along with Peru and Mexico.

The countries which went down on the list were Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Venezuela and Brazil.
