Nicaragua hydro plant to cost $1.2 billion

Tumarín, the hydro plant that is to generate half of Nicaragua’s current electricity, will come on stream in 2018.
The plant is being built by a joint venture of two Brazilian companies, the state-owned Eletrobras and Queiroz Galvão, which is privately owned.
The project is expected to cost $1.2 billion.
