Nicaragua inaugurates $52 million power plant donated by Venezuela, only five days away from election facing Ortega

Daniel Ortega, the Nicaraguan president, inaugurated the “Victories of Alba” 30-megawatt power plant. The plan, which cost $52 million, was donated by Venezuela.

The opening of the plant was only five days away for en election in which Ortega hopes to win re-election.. The plant, at Puerto Sandino, wil meet the requirements of 200,000 families in the provinces of León and Managua, he said.

Together with two other plants financed by Caracas, “Victories of Alba” will generate 291 megawatts that “saved Nicaragua from a social and economic disaster”, said Ortega.
