Nicaragua investment rules 'changed overnight'

Foreign companies that have invested in Nicaragua are complaining bitterly about the fiscal reform proposed by the government.

"They believe that the efforts they have made were done in conditions that were in friendly terms and attractive, but now the rules are being changed from one day to the next," said Azucena Castillo, a member of the Parliamentary Economic Commission.

Castillo was speaking after a consultation with representatives of several companies. However, the supreme business organization, Cosep, did not attend the gathering.
