Nicaragua owes $2 billion to Venezuela

Nicaragua has a debt worth $2 billion with Venezuela which started in 2008, according to the Central Bank of Nicaragua.

Venezuela has given Nicaragua most of its loans through its regional cooperation organization known as ALBA.

Last year, Nicaragua received $756 million from Venezuela, of which $550 million was through Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA, and $209 million in foreign direct investment.
