Nicaragua private sector foresees massive sinkhole in economy

Tuesday, July 3, 2018

Nicaragua's has benign serious problems as a result of more than 10 weeks of a political crisis.

The Central bank has slashed its original growth forecast for the year from 4.9 to 1 percent, with 85,000 jobs lost in manufacturing and farming.

But Funides, a private-sector think tank, sees the situation as much worse. It  foresees negative growth of 5.6 percent this year and a reduction in GDP of $1.4 billion.
