Nicaragua ranks better in tourism index

Nicaragua ranked five places higher in the Tourism Competitiveness Index, up from number 100 to 95, according to the country's tourism authority.

"In 2011, we were at number 100, and now we've improved and rank 95 this year," said Mayra Salinas, director of the Nicaraguan Tourism Institute.

The authority said that tourism in the country grew 11.5 percent in 2012, compared to a year earlier.
