Nicaragua's Corinto port lags behind in region

Nicaragua's port of Corinto, on the Pacific Coast, is at the bottom of the region's ranking in terms of cargo movement, with 91,868 TEUs, 20-foot containers, handled last year, according to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAC.
The busiest port in the region, with more than 3.3 million TEUs handled last year is Panama's Colón port, on the Caribbean.
Panama's leadership in the sector is due to the large quantities of cargo moved through the Canal, the report said.
