Nicaragua's early-season coffee export earnings and volume drop sharply

Monday, January 30, 2012

Nicaragua's volume of coffee exports dropped 37.7 per cent, while export revenues dropped 23.4 per cent after the first three months of the 2011-2012 harvest, compared to the same period last year.

Coffee exports generated $33.6 million from October to December 2011, whereas the revenues from the same period of 2010 totalled $43.9
million. The decrease is believed to be caused by low productivity of coffee plantations.
