Nicaragua's exports surge 14 percent to $1.6 billion

Nicaragua exported $1.6 billion in the first seven months of the year, a 14 percent increase on the same period of last year, according to the export agency, Cetrex.

Volume of the exports was also up, to 1.1 million metric tons from 989,000 the previous year.

International prices boosted exports of gold, coffee and seafood.
