Friday, March 9, 2012
The World Organization for Animal Health will grant Nicaragua the status of “country with controlled risk” from mad cow disease.
Nicaragua would become one of 35 countries with this status, a major boost to its meat industry.
The Nicaraguan meat industry has grown in recent years. Meat exports reached $431 million last year, a 39.2 percent increase in comparison to the $310 million reached of 2010.
