Nicaragua's free zones boost economy

Exports from Nicaragua's free trade zones grew 15.3 percent last year, according to official data.

The figure shows exports that reached $2.19 billion, compared with the $1.9 billion for 2012.

The garment sector is the strongest, accounting for 64 percent of the zones' exports and 44 percent of the companies using them.
