Wednesday, August 17, 2011

\
Monkey Point, in Nicaragua’s South Atlantic autonomous region, is to house a deep-water point and two railroad and highway “dry canals”.\
\
Daniel Ortega, the Nicaraguan president, signed a letter of intent with the Brazilian company Andrade Gutiérrez in order to launch the feasibility studies for the project.\
\
The aim is to build a port costing some $250-$300 million. The Pacific and the Caribbean coasts are to be linked by road and rail from the port of Corinto to Monkey Point.\
