Nicaragua’s small firms find a refreshing impact from the global economic recovery

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Small firms in Nicaragua are welcoming a modest recovery in their fortunes as a result of the international economic recovery.

In the first six months of this year, the output of small businesses grew by 3.5 percent, compared with the same period of 2009. The increase represents $180 million.

Handicrafts, industrial farm production and tourism were the main drivers of growth. Small businesses account for some 45 percent of
Nicaragua’s total economy.
