Nicaragua seeks to boost investment in call centers
Thursday, July 5, 2012
Nicaragua is betting on call centers as a means of attracting investment and creating jobs where more than half the workforce is underemployed or unemployed.
So far, Nicaragua has 12 call centers that have created 4,500 jobs, equivalent to only 0.2 percent of the national workforce. Wages are $500 to $700, double the national norm.
Many of the wages are attracting unemployed professionals.
