Nicaragua sees mining sector growing 10 percent

Nicaragua’s mining sector will be increasing 10 percent in 2014 by producing approximately 325,000 troy ounces of gold, according to projections stated by Denis Lanzas, Vice-President of the Nicaraguan Chamber of Mines.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, gold exports reached $435.9 million in 2013, a 3 percent increase compared to the $422.8 million exported in 2012.

Gold production grew 38 percent last year, reaching just under 310,000 troy ounces.
