Nicaragua sends first sugar shipment to Europe

Nicaragua is the first country in Central America to export under the recent association agreement with Europe.

The country sent its first cargo of 42,000 metric tons of sugar to Romania, the ninth largest country in Europe.

Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala are selling sugar at $480 per ton, $120 more than the international market price.
