Nicaragua set to start work on Grand Canal

Construction for Nicaragua's Inter-oceanic canal project will begin on December 22 this year, said China-based HKND Group, the firm in charge of the project.
Speaking at a press conference, HKND Group's Zhu Xiaoya said the project meets all quality, transparency and environmental standards.
The project is expected to create at least 50,000 direct jobs and some 200,000 indirect jobs, said Paul Oquist, Secretary of the Nicaraguan Grand Canal commission.
