Nicaragua strides in eradicating hunger

Nicaragua is one of the leading countries in Latin America in tackling hunger, as part of the first of the United Nation's Millennium Development goals.

In two decades, the number of hungry people in Nicaragua dropped from 2.3 million to 1 million.

The country's with the most progress in eradicating hunger are Bolivia, Colombia, Honduras, Guyana, Nicaragua, Panama and Peru, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations said.
