Nicaragua: the Europeans are coming

Leading Spanish and Italian companies are interested in Nicaraguan investment. Earlier this month, Nicaragua hosted a Spanish trade mission, consisting of 18 companies. Meanwhile, 25 Italian companies spent three days at a business round table in Managua, analyzing potential investments, which would receive support from the government of Italy. Potential areas of investment involve renewable energy, tourism, and transportation infrastructure, including the construction of a railway linking the Caribbean to the Pacific, as well as a Pacific coastal highway.
