Nicaragua to use biogas for rural energy

Nicaragua is seeking to take cheap, environmentally-friendly energy to rural areas through the production of biogas.

"Developing a system with biogas is the only way to take energy to rural areas," said René Escoto, coordinator of Nicaragua's biogas development program.

The program is being funded by the Netherlands Development Cooperation, Inter-American Development Bank and the Nordic Development Fund.
