Nicaragua tourism rough diamond badly needs polish

The island of Ometepe is being billed as the diamond in the rough of Nicaragua's tourism industry. But it's simply too rough, according to the people who run its tourism services.

Power cuts are common, with some lasting for hours. And at times no water is available for much of a day.

Even so, Ometepe is growing as a destination for tourism, especially those from far-flung parts of the world.
