Nicaragua tourism seeks to sidestep quakes

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Nicaragua's tourism and private sector representatives are confident that the recent series of earthquakes won't affect the arrival of tourists.

"Earthquakes are natural phenomena and can't be controlled, and the government is working to maintain everything running as normal," said Mayra Salinas, president of the country's tourism authority, Intur.

For the Easter holiday period, Intur is expecting the arrival of at least 53,000 tourists, most from Central America.
