Nicaragua wants firms from Taiwan to work on canal

Nicaragua is inviting Taiwan companies to pursue business opportunities in an inter-oceanic canal project and other industries, a Nicaraguan official said at a seminar in Taipei on Thursday.

Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos Lopez, who is leading a delegation from the Central American country, gave a presentation on trade and investment opportunities in his country for foreign businesses.

Taiwan's Deputy Foreign Minister Simon Ko said at the seminar that the Nicaraguan canal project, scheduled to be completed in 2025, is a "worthwhile" investment opportunity.
