Nicaragua wants state to control export business

A bill that would create a state-owned import-export company, to be known as Enimex could slash investment in the foreign trade sector, business leaders say.

Members of the powerful Cosep business lobby say that Enimex would constitute unfair competition in trading on import and export markets.

Legislators are currently pondering the terms of the bill, whose loose terminology could open the door open to a nationalization of foreign trade, the business leaders add.
