Nicaraguan companies freeze nation's investment

For years, tourism has been the driving force of Nicaragua's economy. Now, after five months of a severe political and economic crisis, investments in tourism have fallen to zero, according to the business organization Cosep.
A Cosep report says: "As far as most products for both exports and domestic consumption, this year investments are running at 50 percent of what was originally forecast."
Almost nobody has invested in such key sectors as coffee and cocoa, nor in the textile industry, once a major generator of jobs.
