Nicaraguan wood sales on track to grow 14 percent

According to Nicaraguan authorities, wood and wood products exports are expected to reach $20 million in 2012, a 14 percent increase compared to 2011 figures.

The country exported $17.5 million in wood and wood products in 2011, mainly to the US and China, representing a 40 percent increase compared to the $12.5 million obtained in 2010.

Moreover, the 2011 figure outweighs the 2006 figure by 94 percent. This leap is due to the 49 percent growth in volume exported between 2006 and 2011 and prices increased by 13 percent.
