Nicaraguans like Venezuela aid but not its politics

While Nicaragua and Venezuela share strong economic and cooperation ties, 70 percent of Nicaraguans believe democracy is best for their country, according to a poll by M&R Consultants.

Nicaragua is the only Central American member of the Bolivarian Alliance for our People of the Americas, led by Venezuelan leader Hugo Chávez, meaning the Central American nation receives economic and cooperation benefits in areas such as oil and infrastructure.

Despite the cooperation, only 17 percent of Nicaraguans support Chávez's style of government, while Nicaraguan president Daniel Ortega has a 60 percent approval rating.
