The leading sports clothing companies Nike and Adidas are going to abandon their factories in Honduras and move them to Nicaragua.
Daniel Facusse, leader of the Honduran association of free-zone assembly plants, said that the loss of the two companies will cost 10,000 jobs.
The level of wages is a major factor, he added. “The minimum wage in El Salvador is 38 percent less than it is in Honduras and in Nicaragua it’s 50 percent less.”
