North Carolina State Ports Authority enters agreement with Panama Canal

The North Carolina State Ports Authority has signed an agreement with the Panama Canal Authority to encourage shipping between Asia and the US East Coast.

 

The two agencies plan to market what they call the "All-Water Route" from Asia to the East Coast, through the Panama Canal.

 

About two-thirds of Wilmington's container volume comes through the canal.
