Only winners in Costa Rica’s free market in insurance

The removal of Costa Rica’s state monopoly in insurance has led to a radical change in the sector.

Benefits have been important for consumers, and many new jobs have been created.

Meanwhile, the National Insurance Institute that exercised the monopoly for 84 years has been obliged to make major changes in its business practices.
